Tue 6/6/2017 - 3:45pm to 5:15pm
Culturally-specific and -responsive services, Self-care and community care
- This workshop is an extended version based on a Women of Color Luncheon that I led and facilitated at the OCADSV Conference when I was the Women of Color Advocate many moons ago. At the previous luncheon we were able to connect and share our experiences, but there was no immediate follow-up or continued effort to engage the WOC community - both within agencies and personally.
- This workshop will also be an opportunity for non-WOC participants to listen and witness the experiences of their WOC colleagues (if approved of, gauged by email survey, by WOC participants.) If not approved, the workshop will remain specific to WOC attendees.
- Participants will be led through individual and small-group exercises to draw out and share their experiences. These activities will then culminate in facilitator-directed journaling and art therapy activities. The goal is for participants to leave with specific tools for support and ongoing connection with other WOC colleagues.
- As well, we will initiate discussion on how to engage other WOC in their home agencies into these ongoing systems of support.
