VOA Oregon is seeking an experienced, bilingual domestic violence advocate for a full time direct service position. The Bilingual Emergency Services Specialist works in Home Free’s emergency housing and crisis line program. This person provides services to emergency housing participants such as: crisis line coverage, short term case management (including conducting intakes, facilitating linkage to supportive services, and individualized goal planning), safety planning, and data collection and reporting from both the hotline and participants. The BESS advocate, along with the Emergency Services Coordinator will take the lead working to ensure Home Free’s commitment to provide a culturally appropriate response and outreach to the Latino community. This may include attending relevant trainings, providing information to Home Free staff, establishing linkages with other Latino service providers and providing outreach to the Latino community.

Job Requirements: This position requires oral and written proficiency in Spanish and English (bi-cultural preferred) and a minimum of one year experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence and with diverse populations. Qualified candidates will have a reasonable combination of related work and academic experience and an excellent working knowledge of local resources and of barriers faced by underserved survivors. This position requires mobile advocacy and requires an active driver’s license, liability insurance, access to a reliable vehicle and the ability to pass and maintain our insurer’s driving standards.
