Legal aid organizations provide legal advice, services, and representation to members of the public on a free (pro bono), low-cost, or sliding-scale basis. Services may include representation in court, document review, divorce and child custody filings, and petitions to the government for immigrant refugee status. Each program has its own priorities, range of services offered, and cost structure.
