This is a 180-minute workshop, split into two 90-minute sessions.
Learn how to better serve survivors who identify as lgbtqia2s+, with focus on our transgender and gender diverse populations, as well as identify opportunities for further growth and self-reflection that give way to anti-oppressive practice. This workshop also provides a review of systemic transphobia and gender discrimination, identifying advocacy needs in other social determinants of health for transgender and gender diverse individuals. Also review affirming practices and provides direction in both agency operations and direct practice, with particular emphasis on advocacy in healthcare. Additionally, we will review policies and practices that are common in advocacy with survivors that also relate to best practices between patients and providers in healthcare. Finally, this workshop will highlight action that leads to aspiring allyship with these communities.
