The topics covered during this workshop include advocacy through support lines, written correspondence and case management services. Attendees will learn about providing services during Sexual Assault Forensic Exams, investigative interviews and throughout the criminal justice system process. We will discuss corrections culture including Department of Corrections and county jails. We will also cover who is in custody that advocates may work with. such as folks with mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction. histories of abuse and marginalized identities. These topics will be addressed through the framework of development of services, service provision. relevant PREA Standards and case studies. We aim to include a panel of professionals representing other disciplines, with whom advocates may interact with while providing services to incarcerated survivors, including PREA Compliance Manager/PREA Auditor, Amanda Rasmussen. of Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, Detective Chad Drew. of the Oregon State Police, Special investigation Unit Investigator, Lindsay Noack, of the Inspector General’s Office and potentially the PREA Coordinator for the state of Oregon. Follow up learning includes MOU development. PREA audits and mental health services available to incarcerated survivors. These topics may be included as time allows.
