1. Understand the nature of trauma spectrum and how complex trauma (unhealed) can negatively impact a person’s life and choices.
2. Explore tools to address complex trauma and healing modalities for both youth and adults. Modalities include acupuncture, somatic therapies, mindfulness, artistic expression and yoga as pathways to healing. Harm Reduction is considered and
practiced throughout all forms of healing.
3. Experiential practice of basic yoga techniques, movement and breath exercises to utilize with self and others. Participants will leave with a toolkit of resources for exploring healing.
Methodologies: Use brief power point presentation to outline relevant information, handouts of resources; and didactic information and experiential exercises.
Desired outcomes: Participants will take away an understanding of how complex trauma affectsthe body and possible healing modalities that can be used to promote greater health.
Participants will have direct opportunities to work with breath, movement, yoga and body awareness.
Presentation: Combination of lecture, discussion and interactive experiences.
