Learn about new changes to Oregon Crime Victim Compensation (CVC) that allow for greater access to compensation for survivors who are not engaged with the criminal justice system. HB 2621, passed in 2017, provides counseling benefits for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors who are opt not to report to or cooperate with law enforcement investigations. Additionally, this workshop introduces a demonstration of the new client portal, which allows advocates and applicants to file applications for compensation, check on the status of claims and upload supporting documentation. Through interactive group work, we will look at what these changes mean for survivors. Leave this session with new information and resources to support your work with survivors.
